The Crofton Lions' 3rd "Festival of St. George" 19th - 25th April 2009.
Our plan for the event is to, once again, involve the whole community. Anyone who would like to help us, or local groups that wish to take an active part, should contact Reg Norton on 01329 663661 or email: as soon as possible.
We plan to start on Sunday 19th with a Parade for up to 600 scouts from the Fareham District courtesy of the District Commissioner, followed on Monday 20th by a Cavalcade of Motorbikes and Mini Cars all flying the flag!
We hope to celebrate the Queens Birthday (21st) with Music on The Green, and on Thursday 23rd we are encouraging each of the local Pubs to offer a St. George’s Day Dinner of Roast Beef and real ale.
A Variety Show produced by Reg Coates of "Nostalgia" will be staged on Friday 24th in the Community Centre, and the week will finish with a Village Fayre on Saturday 25th opened by The “Spirit of St. George” on a white horse, and carrying the Standard of England. The Fayre will include “Living History” Groups from 1142 and 1642, Morris Dancers, Turkish Dancers, and modern "Street Dancing", Jesters, Bands and Singers, Storytellers, Punch & Judy, and more.
Window displays in many of the village shops will reflect the theme, and Stubbington Green will be decorated with over 30 flags of St. George.
